In addition to playing in the million dollar main event, players will also have the option to join one of the WSOM circuit events, held the day
prior to the main tournament.

WSOM Reach/Riichi Circuit Event (WSOMRE)
Date: Thursday September 18, 2008
Venue: Wynn Macau
Buy-In: US$1,000

Official WSOM Circuit Event sponsored and administered by

The Reach/Riichi Circuit Event will be a 1-day, $1,000 USD tournament using an adapted version of the Reach/Riichi Mahjong rules used
predominantly in Japan. The top 10-20% of the field will win cash-prizes. The first place winner will receive an entry into the 2008 or 2009
WSOM or a cash refund (if already registered) and an official WSOM championship necklace in addition to prize money.

Schedule and prize distribution are subject to change based on the number of entrants. Official prize amounts will be announced during
the tournament after registration has closed. More than 80% of the entry fees will be available to the entrants in the form of cash and
material prizes.

--- Format and Schedule ---
The tournament will have 2 heats. The first heat will be a preliminary round, cutting the field in half (about 28 players for a field of 50-60
entrants). This round will be the longest without eliminations and will include the most number of games (6-8 games, 24-32 hands),
giving all players as fair of a chance as possible at advancing to the second round based on skill. The players with the highest cumulative
score for the entire first round will continue on to the second round and carryover 25% of their score to the second round.

The second round will consist of shorter bouts, 1-2 games each, and eliminate the 4 -8 players (the equivalent of 1-2 tables) with the
lowest cumulative score each bout. The 4 players that remain to the Final Table will carryover 25% of their total cumulative score
(including the 25% of the total in the first round) from the second round to the final table.
