The main event of the World Series
of Mahjong is a 3-day, single-elimination format tournament.
Please refer to the format, rules and
scoring sections on this site for complete details.
The cost to register for the event is
US$5,000. Payment of the fee will guarantee a player’s
seat at the tables, and a chance to win one
of the cash prizes.
Given the diversity of mahjong
rules as played in Asia and other parts of the world,
the World Series of Mahjong will employ a
simplified rule and scoring system that is fair to all,
simply and easy to learn, systematic and consistent,
and emphasizes the
playability of the game as a competition of skill. The
World Series of Mahjong Rules® is available in detail
on this website, and
a practice game may be found at Mahjong Time, the official
online mahjong partner of the World Series of Mahjong.
Please go to
their website at www.mahjongtime.com.
The tournament will be held at the fabulous
Wynn Macau hotel and casino. All tournament functions
will take place in the hotel’s
Grand Ballroom and function rooms on the second floor.
The venue will include an area for tournament play,
a player’s lounge, a
press room, and a registration and player information
center.
A series of circuit events will
be held the day before the main tournament begins. These
will include a US$1,000 buy-in Reach
(Riichi) Rules event, and others to be announced in
the near future. |
